What IS the difference between a training BLOCK, and a training PHASE?

Terminology is a funny thing… it all depends on the definitions used, or it doesn’t make sense! And to be honest, there’s a lot of variation in the use of these different terms too, even amongst the experts.

I’m not into showboating flashy names for the sake of it. I like to keep things simple, so we can all understand how to train for best effect – and I try to avoid too much jargon.

“Periodisation” <––––– (flashy name), or “planning training” as I like to say, is FULL of confusing terms…. Macro Cycle, Meso Cylce, Micro Cycle, Volume Load etc, etc…

And of course you DON’T need to know all these terms to get an effective training program!

In this video, I explain the most important terms that I use, exactly what I mean by them, and how to they relate to you overall training plan.

…Please forgive the scribbled sketches, and in particular the stickmen at the end!
