One of the guys on my Heavy Hitters program asked for some help planning the start of his next years training…
And comments on IG and Facebook said it would be useful if I did a brief run-through.
So here is a worked example, planning Muay Thai S&C training for a fighter with two fight dates scheduled for the New Year.
His personal athletic training emphasis was for functional strength and explosive power. So both of these blocks were emphasised in the periodised planning.
I recommend a concurrent, or conjugate periodised training model for fighters.
This means, up to two qualities are developed while the others are maintained. And a fighter is always capable of taking a fight at short notice…
There’s no “offseason” for a fighter! We have to be ready to go all year round, and can’t afford extended training blocks that focus on just one thing at the expense of all others.
Check out the further resources below if you’d like to dig deeper into how to program your Muay Thai S&C to get the biggest return on your effort.
